Zhuhai SEZ expand to the whole city
Beginning October 1st, the special economic zone (SEZ) in Zhuhai will be extended to cover the whole of the city. This news was announced yesterday (August 26) when the SEZ celebrated its 30th anniversary and shall be the 4th expansion from its original size of only 6.8 square kilometers. In the approval document issued by the State Council, Zhuhai is asked to continue to play the role of a "window" and a "trial field" of the reform and opening up policy. 


Airlines staff makes apology
Henan Airlines' senior manager apologized yesterday (August 26) to families of the victims and to the entire country for Tuesday's deadly air crash. A Brazilian-made ERJ-190 jet owned by Henan Airlines carrying 96 people crashed during its landing on Tuesday at Yichun Airport, killing 42 and injuring 54. Liu Hang, the chairman of the board of supervisors of Henan Airlines, made repeated apologies, sometimes even seeming to cry, at a press conference in Yichun on Thursday. All Henan Airlines flights are still grounded and the general manager Li Qiang, has been sacked. Cao Bo has been appointed acting manager.

 

2010 GZ Fair Opens
The 2010 Guangzhou Fair opened yesterday (August 26) at the China Import & Export Commodities Trade Venue. Exhibitors from Guangzhou and 20 other cities in China including Hong Kong and Macau, are displaying their products and services at the fair. The fair opens from 9:00am to 5:00 pm everyday except this Sunday, the last day of the exhibition, when the fair closes at 4:00 pm.
