Security Implemented for All vehicles entering Guangzhou
Beginning September 1st till December 26, therefore during the Asian Games and Asian Para Games, all vehicles entering Guangzhou will need to go through a security check. Drivers need to present an ID card, driving license, vehicle license, whilst the passengers' luggages is being checked. For vehicles carrying cargo, papers for the goods will be checked.
Citizens Get One-day holiday for Shenzhen SEZ celebration
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of Shenzhen's special economic zone, Shenzhen citizens are given a one-day holiday on August 27, the day following the anniversary. The government will also give out 15 million phone-cards worth 100 RMB each to those who live or work in Shenzhen as gift.
Shenzhen popularizes energy saving lamps
The energy-saving lights subsidy program was launched in Shenzhen today (Aug 20).
According to the scheme, citizens need only spend 3.25 or 3.8 yuan for a 5 or 8 kilowatt energy-saving lamp, 10 yuan cheaper than retail prices. Experts estimate that if 670,000 energy saving lights are used for 8 hours a day, it will save over 92 million kWh of electricity a year compared with normal lamps.

New cars in Foshan Soared 32%
In the first half of this year, 94,000 new vehicles have been registered in Foshan, a dramatic increase of 32% year-on-year. Analyst said that this sharp increase is due to vehicles being purchased ahead of a ban on polluting vehicles. A reform is also pushing civil servants to buy their own cars instead of using government cars, and preferably purchasing energy efficient ones.
