billion yuan, up by 15.62% over the previous year, or 604.161 billion with export tax refund, up 18.86%, covering about 1/7 of the total state revenue. The general budgetary revenue of the Province reached 217.946 billion yuan, leading all the provinces, regions and municipalities of the nation for 16 consecutive years, up by 20.6% over the previous year. The general budgetary expenditure reached 255.334 billion yuan, up by 11.54%.
 
State Tax Revenue
 
In 2006, State tax revenue in Guangdong reached 345.065 billion yuan, up by 21% over the previous year, ranking the first in the country for 12 consecutive years. Customs-levied import tax revenue reached 105.07 billion yuan, up by 11.4%. Domestic tax revenue reached 239.994 billion yuan, up by 25.7%. There were nine State Tax Revenue Services at the city level with the tax revenue over 10 billions yuan, including Guangzhou (106.905 billion yuan), followed in the descending order of revenue by Shenzhen, Foshan, Dongguan, Huizhou, Zhongshan, Zhanjiang, Zhuhai and Maoming.
 
Local Tax revenue

In 2006, local tax and fee revenue in Guangdong reached 230.55 billion yuan, up by 21.9% over the previous year, leading all the provinces, regions and municipalities of the nation for 13 consecutive years and covering 1/7 of China's total local tax revenue. Taxes reached 160.50 billion yuan, up 18.8%, in which, State-level income reached 43.20 billion yuan, up 16.6%, provincial-level income 31.5 billion yuan, up by 19.1%, city-level or county-level income 85.70 billion yuan, up by 19.8%. Revenue from social security insurance reached 60.5 billion, up by 26.0%, ranking the first in the nation for 7 consecutive years. Educational and cultural surcharges and other forms of income totaled 9.56 billion yuan.
